Mobile Self Storage

The Dixon Line can now offer Mobile Self Storage Units [MSSU]. This system has been devised to help reduce removal charges by allowing you to load and unload the MSSU at your own home or place of work. ‘You load it – we store it’

How this system differs from standard Self Storage

With standard Self Storage you have to hire or borrow a van, go and collect it, bully or beg friends and family for help, load and unload the van twice [Not to mention the return journey out of store], have the possibility of a lengthy walk to and from the actual rented store room, then return the van at the end of a long and tiring day.

How Mobile Self Storage works

The MSSU is placed within a purpose built trailer which is then delivered as close as possible to your front door. You do your own packing and loading, we then call back at an agreed time to collect the trailer and deliver it to our purpose built storage facility. This way there is no need to hire a van, no need to ‘double handle’ everything and no long walk within the self storage complex.

Packing Materials

To assist you we can supply all necessary packing materials which can be purchased from our depot before hand or from our delivery van on the day of the move. These consist of various sized boxes, portable wardrobe cartons [for hanging garments], bubble wrap, polythene mattress covers, packing paper and tape.

MSSU dimensions and capacity

The internal dimensions of the MSSU are 7ft high, by 7ft long, by 5ft wide. The cubic capacity of each unit is 250 c/ft or 7.14 c/mtrs.

Loading Time

We allow approximately 2 hours from time of delivery to time of collection for loading or unloading, however this period can be extended if required following prior arrangement with our office.

Loading Tips

The golden rule is to place the large heavy items on the floor with lighter items on top. Remember to pack the MSSU as tightly as possible to reduce possibility of load movement. There are 15 transit blankets supplied to help protect polished surfaces and upholstered items, any non-returned or damaged blankets will be charged for.=

Access to your goods in storage

If you find that you require access to the goods that have been placed in storage, then by giving us a call we can make your MSSU available at an agreed time for retrieval purposes. Perhaps you need to measure a particular piece of furniture or find you need to remove an item from a certain box, what ever your requirements we will do our best to accommodate.
